A family heirloom variety from Hueyapan, Veracruz, Chile Gordo is productive and produces large jalapeño peppers on tall, well branched plants. The plants are healthy and provide good canopy cover. The peppers are very flavorful and of medium spiciness. These jalapeños are great for making jalapeño poppers or escabeche. We much prefer it over Early Jalapeño.
