Florida Market Italian eggplant was developed in 1948 at the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station in Gainesville, FL. Healthy plants are large and well-branched, keeping fruits off the ground without staking. Plants produce heavy yields of classic Italian eggplants - large, shiny, dark purple bell-shaped fruits.
