Watermelon, Isla

Our original seeds of this unnamed variety came from Julio Medina Zarate, who obtained them from a farmer in Isla, Veracruz, Mexico. Isla watermelon has shown resistance to drought as well as intermediate resistance to Alternaria, Anthracnose and Downy Mildew. Fruits are medium green with some lighter green striping; average 12-16 pounds; and have sweet, dark pink flesh with small seeds. Brix of fruits averages 10.5-11.
